So much fun and no stress

The Matara Centre was the only venue that we viewed after searching for unique wedding venues online, we wanted somewhere a bit different and this venue was perfect for us and luckily only 20 minutes from where we live! It is so pretty and gives you the opportunity to get married outside all year round! We got married 8th November 2019 and it was the best day ever! We had so much fun, there was no stress, everything went perfectly thanks to the matara centre staff who were very friendly and helpful throughout the whole planning process and on the day itself! We also had a firework display which was a great suprise for our guests and perfect for a winter wedding. We also got a tree didicated to us which is a lovely gesture and we will be able to go back and visit our tree in the future and relive all the great memories! We would definitely recommend!!

Perfect setting for our big day

Cannot fault this venue. Our wedding day was in March this year and just wow. The staff were incredible from the moment we arrived, they made us feel at home and confident that all the plans were being sorted. We didn't have to worry about a thing, from setting up the venue, sorting out all our 100 guests meals and turning the venue into the evening setup, they had it all sorted. Guests still mention how fantastically beautiful this venue is, it is so unique and made for the perfect setting for our big day. You will not regret choosing this place for your wedding day, just visit once and it will steal your heart!

Beautiful setting for our vows

We were married at Matara on the 16th November and had the most wonderful day - the colours of the Acers, the twinkling lights, the water trickling in the background made for the most beautiful setting for our vows. Abby our coordinator was there on hand to help all the way through . Our guests have said how wonderful the venue and say was Thank you for making our event so special

... for making the day as special as my daughter

An absolutely wonderful venue and a very special place for my daughter to get married. All the staff were unbelievably eager to help with genuine smiles but never in your face. They all wore the fairy wings my daughter bought for them and all looked superb. The venue, the staff and the chef Luke were the best I have seen. Thank you Matara for making the day as special as my daughter.

Rescheduled Wedding

We haven't had our wedding at Matara Centre yet, however we were booked for October 2020. With all the uncertainty surrounding weddings due to COVID-19 we rescheduled for October 2021. We were lucky to find a venue that was kind enough to let us reschedule far in advance, this has taken a load off our mind. It is quite rare to find a venue that is so accommodating and we are thankful to Holly and her team at Matara. We now look forward to our wedding in 2021 :)

A Special Place

From the moment we walked into Matara, it was clear that this was a special place. We decided to take the whole venue for our wedding weekend, surrounded by our family and close friends in the beautiful house, the pretty honeymoon cottage for our wedding night offering welcome privacy, and last but by no means least the venue itself which easily accommodated150+ guests in a variety of different areas, rooms, garden, courtyards etc. The staff we the essence of cheerful helpfulness during planning and they all excelled themselves at the event. From seemingly endless canapes, to perfect timing, and efficiency which made the whole day run smoothly. We enjoyed a fairytale wedding celebration in October 2019.

A Great Success

We would like to thank Geoffrey and all of the Matara team for providing a brilliant venue for Mark and Maddie’s wedding on Saturday. Abbie was excellent before and on the day, finding first aid and keeping us all on track! The guests raved about the canapes, main meal and other food – so thanks to the chef The atrium was perfect (and dealt with the rain), the hilarium was beautifully decorated and a perfect setting for the enjoyment. The fireworks were splendid Overall a great success – thank you. There were a number of the guests who also loved the venue so maybe there will be more reasons than anniversaries to celebrate and see you all again. 5* for a 5* day!

Matara what a completely magical place.

Holly, we Just wanted to say a massive thank you to yourself Luke, Steve and all the staff at Matara. We had the most amazing time at our wedding and now we have the video and some of the photos we are back into our wedding bubble. Where can I start from the week before our wedding you looked after us with your thoughtful and informative emails. On arrival the day before our wedding everyone was so helpful especially you and Luke. On the evening before and the Morning Luke made us all feel so special, looked after and cared for. Every guest since has individually commented on how fantastic the food was on the day both taste and amount. The Scotch eggs where a real hit in the evening (so thank you Luke for helping us choose those) Holly your organisational skills made the day run like clockwork and your beaming smiles, gentle, confident and calm manner was a complete delight (which most definitely quelled my nerves). We had not met Steve before the day but again he was so supportive and made us feel so special and could not do enough for us all. Now to Matara what a completely magical place. We both fell in love with it on our first visit and have felt so privileged to have spent 3 days there to celebrate our wedding, spending precious time together with friends and family in such a unique house and garden but Matara is so much more than that it has such a spiritual beauty of its own. So thank you Geoffrey for sharing not only your home but your unique vision that is Matara. Holly could I also ask that you continue to email us if Matara has any charity events such as open gardens or Christmas tree event for Rory’s wells so that we can continue to come spend a few hours in Matara as it has woven a special place in our hearts. With kindest Regards and much thanks Jon & Jane Petersen-Jones

The venue was unbelievable...

We just got married this weekend (28th Oct 2017) at Matara and we are still buzzing from the experience. It was a sensational day. The venue was unbelievable and we are amazed at how many compliments we have received about this. All the staff were so accommodating and so highly organised. Nothing was too much trouble for them right from a year or so ago when we first looked around the venue. The house we stayed in there was also so beautiful and quirky and was great for hosting others the night before the wedding. Luke, the chef, was absolutely amazing and the food was so wonderful – he tailored the food to what we wanted and did the most amazing selection of Japanese canapés that we wanted to accommodate our Japanese honeymoon themed wedding. The staff are also so wonderfully flexible and are able to meet your individual needs and preferences, unlike many of the other venues we looked around. We cannot recommend this venue enough and are just so sad that our wonderful day is now over at Matara.’

Real Privilege

It was a real privilege to get married at Matara. Everything about our day there was perfect. The ground were glorious, the venue looked as beautiful as ever, Holly's level of organisation and coordination was invaluable (whilst managing to disappear into the background), and the vegan food was amazing served by lovely members of staff. We can't wait to come back and visit! It really was a magical day. Thank you, from The Hiltons.

FAQs

Describe the best wedding that happened at The Matara Centre?

The best weddings are always the ones that are a true expression of the couple. We encourage our couples to decorate all the spaces at Matara to their own tastes and have left the main reception room simple enough to accommodate all decors.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Concentrate on what marriage means to you as a couple and allow your day to unfold around that.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

We have seen some amazing wedding favours. One couple, who got married this year, trolled their favourite charity shops for books with specific meaning for each guest enabling them to personalise the favours and give over £1,000.00 to their charity of choice. Another couple made a huge batch of the bride's grandad's damson gin recipe and bottled it in single shot bottle for all the guests. Love those touches.

Describe The Matara Centre in 5 adjectives

Asian inspired; Regency influenced; gorgeous grounds; friendly, accommodating staff.

Where’s the best photo spot at The Matara Centre?

Hmmmm. That is a really hard choice. The cloistered courtyard is a definite unique backdrop found nowhere else.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at The Matara Centre?

Yes, and that is all we are at liberty to divulge ;)

What’s your favourite canapé?

The scotch egg. Chef has many configurations of this classic and we often find guests swarming the servers when the next round of scotch eggs come out.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

The Gloucestershire Old Spot Sausage in a bap with caramelized onions.

What is The Matara Centre most unique feature?

The Cloistered Coutryard

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Being able to offer each couple their wedding, their way.
