What is your most memorable wedding?
As a surprise for the Bride & Groom the Grooms parents organised some Star Wars Storm Troopers and various characters to appear at different times during the wedding. They forgot to tell me about this so I had to think on my feet, adapt with each new character's arrival and ended up with some of the most romantic and funny images I've ever taken at a wedding.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, Stylish, Fun, Conscientious, Approachable
What about your business are you most proud of?
Ending up friends with so many of my couples and getting to meet and photography their babies. It's such a lovely feeling to be part of their lives on such special occasions.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Start a Pinterest board of things that they see and like so that they can show suppliers exactly what they are looking for, be it flowers, food, photography, dresses.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A photographer who went with the bridal party to a nearby hospital where the bride's grandmother was seriously ill then taking some pictures with her. She died not long afterwards and it was a treasured moment for everyone who was there.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I always try and meet all my couples, show them a complete set of wedding photos so they can see my style and discuss what kind of pictures the couple are looking for. I'm a firm believer that the couple have to like their photographer so that they are having fun and relaxed on the day. I then do a free pre-wedding shoot which helps the couples to get an idea of what will happen on the day lots of couples use one of the images as a guest boo, where guests sign the mount. After that we keep in touch in the lead up to the wedding and on the day I arrive early, meet all the staff involved and check out timings etc. I shoot for as long as the Bride and Groom are happy for me to be around and then, post wedding, arrange to meet the couple on their return from honeymoon to show them their images for the first time.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
One relaxed, un-posed, 'caught in the moment' photo that captures their feelings and will always remind them of what an amazing day their wedding was.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Two Star Wards Storm troopers appeared at a wedding so I asked one to hold the Bride's bouquet and the Bride & Groom took the troopers guns - it's a very funny photograph that gets a lot of attention.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
As I have my own studio I always take along lighting kit and backdrops just in case. That way if the weather doesn't play along we can find a space, light it properly and get cracking. It's also useful as an impromptu photobooth.
Describe how you got into photography.
Someone gave me a camera when I was a child and I just fell in love with the whole process. I'm a people photographer and loved recording my family as we grew. It all started from there.
