What is your most memorable wedding?
I was luck enough to be part of a wedding at Askham Hall. It was the bride and her 2 bridesmaids. Every detail from her bespoke gown to her simple yet classic style just made me warm and fuzzy inside. No surprises...the images and video footage of the day was dreamy from start to finish. Love love love! I will never forget that wedding.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Creative, modern, simple, elegant, perfectionist.
What about your business are you most proud of?
How I have grown my business. I've spent a lot of time perfecting my skills and working to improve areas such as my marketing and website. I am so proud of my website, I built it from scratch and work really hard to keep it updated and relevant.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Each make 3 lists; YES, MAYBE, NO
Each write down all the things you absolutely want and don't and everything in between. It will help to cross off a lot of things from your list, and allow you to see what's important to each other. It's both of your special days after all.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
When sentimental moments happen, I'm a wreck. You'll find me hiding behind my mirror, trying not to wale! My favourite was my brides young son had bought her a bracelet with her favourite animal on...out of his own pocket money, and wrapped it himself!!!! I can feel the tears coming just reliving that moment.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I spend a lot of time liasing with my brides, finding out what they love and don't like. I offer advice every step of the way and really try to build a rapport with them. I hold a trial 2-4 months before the big day, this is our chance to try different styles. By this point you have your dress and accessories and we can work on styles to suit.
What do you love most about your job?
EVERY SINGLE THING!
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
Make sure your look after your skin! Planning a wedding can be so stressful, this has a habit of making us look tired, dehydrated and can lead to unexpected breakouts. The last thing you want is for your skin to not be at its best on the big day, so budget in some facials and good skincare products in the run up. Oh and drink LOTS of water!
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
By staying calm. Everyone has a ton of jobs on the day and it can easily get manic in the prep room. Being an extra pair of hands for little jobs can help enormously...I have put flower girls tights on, provided music and even sewn buttons onto dresses. I'm prepared for everything.
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
Make sure you have a glass of water every now and again, take trips to the restroom with your bridesmaid to touch up and tidy any strays and just enjoy your moment....a smile is the best look on a bride.
